Transcriptome analysis of the tardigrade Hypsibius exemplaris exposed to the DNA-damaging agent bleomycin
Published in Proc Jpn Acad Ser B Phys Biol Sci, 2024
Transcriptome analysis of bleomycin-exposed Hypsibius exemplaris revealed induction of several tardigrade-specific gene families, including a novel anti-oxidative stress family that may be core components of the cross-tolerance mechanism between DNA damage and anhydrobiosis. Enrichment of the tryptophan metabolism pathway was also observed, with metabolomic analysis suggesting its engagement in stress tolerance. These findings provide candidates for understanding the core machinery of radiation/anhydrobiosis cross-tolerance.
